In 1947, the esteemed C-82 Packet design was enhanced. More potent Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major engines were fitted, and the fuselage nose was redesigned. The new aircraft, dubbed the C-119 Flying Boxcar, was swiftly adopted by the Air Force. Production models featured a slightly larger fuselage and an improved design, enabling air drops of parachutists and equipment. Throughout its service, the aircraft's design was continually refined, leading to consistent enhancements in flight performance. These aircraft proved their worth in conflicts like Korea and Vietnam, and were operated by air forces worldwide, including the USAF, France, and India.
